Last year OPPO announced the technology of quick charging fastest in the world, with an overall power of ben 125. A revolutionary technology capable of recharging a 4000 mAh battery up to 33% in just 3 minutes. Soon after too Realme has unveiled its charging technology with the same power: although it is only a rebrand, this reveals that even the smartphones of this brand will adopt this fast charging.
However, so far we have not yet seen any devices from either OPPO or Realme that support 125W fast charging. Well, the famous leakster Digital Chat Station has just revealed that the first smartphones to support it will arrive in second half of the 2021. The new technology will support multiple fast charging protocols ensuring very high performance with as many devices as possible.
It will in fact also backwards compatible with previous standards of OPPO, Realme and OnePlus: we are talking about VOOC, Dart, Warp, SuperVOOC, SuperVOOC 2.0 and SuperDart. Compatibility is also ensured with protocols PPS at 125W, USB-PD (Power Delivery) at 65W and Quick Charge at 36W, in addition to the universal voltage 100-240V.
This means that it will be able to quickly recharge even many notebooks. The charger has already been publicly tested by Realme in Europe, but on a non-commercial model. The second half of the year should therefore be the time when the technology will finally hit the market.
Considering the power of fast charging, we expect to see it initially only on top-of-the-range smartphones. In the future, we also expect an extension to mid-range models as happened with SuperVOOC 2.0 at 65W.
