In the aftermath of the presentation of Snapdragon 870 5G from Qualcomm, MediaTek removes the veil from its top-of-the-range 5G processors of 2021 and officially announces them by unveiling all their technical specifications. Dimensions 1200 and 1100 boast two important firsts: they are the first built with a 6 nm and the first to use CPUs ARM Cortex-A78.
These are not the most powerful smartphone processors ever, considering that there are already SoCs with Cortex-X1 CPUs built at 5 nm, but they will occupy that market segment formed by top of the range sold at not excessive prices: the so-called flagships killer.
MediaTek Dimensity 1200
MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is naturally the more powerful of the two: it has an architecture octa-core formed by a high performance Cortex-A78 CPU with frequency a 3 GHz, 3 high-performance Cortex-A78 clocked at 2,6 GHz and 4 low-power Cortex-A55 at 2 GHz. previous generation. The GPU is one Mali-G77 with 9 cores and hardware accelerated AV1 video codec.
The chipset supports displays up to 168Hz and has a 5-core ISP that supports sensors up to 200MP with 4K HDR. The dynamic range thanks to the new chipset increases by 40% and the processing of night shots is 20% faster, complete with support for Night Mode for panoramic shots.
MediaTek Dimensity 1100
The Dimensity 1100 differs in the absence of the first core at 3 GHz: it has instead 4 Cortex-A78 which all run at 3 GHz paired with 4 Cortex-A55 at 2 GHz. The displays supported in this case go up to 144 Hz and the cameras up to 108 MP. For the rest, the specifications are those of the more powerful model and should still guarantee higher performance than the predecessor 1000+.

The first smartphones
Several giants have already confirmed the adoption of the new processors on their next smartphones: they are already on the list OPPO, Xiaomi, Vivo and Realme, which will release new smartphones between the end of March and the beginning of April. Realme in particular has already published a teaser regarding its first smartphone with Dimensity 1200 on board.

In all likelihood we are talking about Realme X9 Pro (the standard X9 is already appeared in photos), which will combine the powerful SoC with a RAM of 12 GB LPDDR5 and 128 or 256 GB of internal memory. According to rumors, the smartphone will be marketed with Android 11 already on board (quite obvious) and will be the first of the brand with a camera from 108 Megapixel (supported by 2 13 MP sensors including a telephoto and a wide angle lens).
Specifications would also include a 120 Hz Full HD + OLED display and a 4500mAh battery with 65W fast charging. Of course, the release of this device does not exclude the manufacturer from the adoption of the Snapdragon 888 and 870 5G processors on other models, which should be those with the code name Race coming soon.
