The OPPO Reno5 series is official in China: among the novelties of the new smartphones there are decisive improvements to the hardware sector but also better aesthetic finishes. OPPO Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G they are proposed on the medium-high and high range with prices that are not excessive but at the same time with features that make them premium models in all respects. Another important novelty is certainly the presence of ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 already pre-installed.
The terminals are also distinguished by the new Reno Glow finish of theirs design, with a rear glass capable of creating an anti-fingerprint pattern made up of microscopic pyramids. The pattern also manages to create a multi-colored surface. On some parts, such as the camera module, there is also a fluorescent coating that makes them glow in the dark.
But now that we've talked about the design, let's go through the technical specifications together while waiting for a variant Pro + which, as we will explain below, will be announced at a later time.
OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G: features and prices
In the duo of devices announced today OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G is naturally the most interesting. The element that distinguishes it from the standard variant is the processor MediaTek Dimension 1000+, which in terms of performance, to give an idea, we can place in the middle between Snapdragon 855+ and 865.
The chip is paired with memory configurations of your choice between 8/128 GB and 12/256 GB with a 4 MHz LPDDR3733x RAM consisting of 4 16-bit chips and 2.1-lane UFS 2 internal memory. The curved display is 6,55-inch, type OLED: It has a Full HD + resolution, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a touch sampling rate of 180 Hz and a high brightness. The quad camera you can see on the back consists of a 64MP f / 1.7 main sensor, an 8MP f / 2.2 wide-angle lens, and a pair of 2MP f / 2.4 sensors for macro and depth calculation.
The front camera is 32 megapixels, while the battery is from 4300 mAh with SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging at 65W; there is also support for USB-PD technologies, Quick Charge 18W and reverse charging. On the connectivity side, in addition to 5G and the dual SIM slot (only one slot supports 5G), there are also NFC and Wi-Fi 6. I prices for China they amount to about € 430 at the current exchange rate for the 8/128 GB configuration and about € 480 for the 12/256 GB one. How is OPPO Reno5 5G different from the Pro version? The aesthetics change slightly, with a flat screen instead of a curved one, but the dimensions also change. In this case the panel is from 6,43 inches and a slightly lower brightness than its big brother.
The processor is also different: one Snapdragon 765G, combined with the same amounts of RAM but with different characteristics; in this case we have in fact 2 16-bit chips with a frequency of 2133 MHz. Furthermore, NFC and WiFi 6 are missing. For the rest, the characteristics are roughly the same. The prices amount to approx €340 for the 8/128 GB version and just under € 380 for the 12/256 GB version available on JD.com.

OPPO Reno5 Pro + 5G out on December 24th
A third model of the new line-up is missing from today's presentation event: OPPO Reno5 Pro +. This third variant, which is the most powerful of the trio, will be officially announced on 24 December. An official teaser shows us its back with a different and visibly more advanced camera module than the other two devices. Thanks to the rumors we already know that this smartphone will have a 6,55-inch Super AMOLED curved screen with Full HD + resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate.
It will mount a processor Snapdragon 865 which will make it one of the most powerful top of the range and will also be the first smartphone with the new sensor Sony IMX766 by 50 Megapixel. In addition there will be a 16MP wide-angle sensor, a 13MP telephoto lens and a 2MP macro lens. All powered by a 4500 mAh battery with SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging at 65W.
