Vivo follows OPPO and opens a laboratory for image quality

di Patricia Maimone

OPPO has recently opened an il Color Research Lab: a development center for image quality with the aim of improving the quality of smartphone displays. And this in a context like the current one in which the multimedia aspect is considered increasingly important on mobile devices. Also Living, by virtue of this, he decided to open a center of this type to improve the cameras, thus sending a very clear message to all the competition.

The new center for improving the quality of cameras

Il image quality development center di Vivo occupies an important area of Huanpu Park in the Chinese town of Xi'An. The goal for which this center was born is to improve the multimedia technology within mobile devices. We are talking, of course, about smartphones, a sector in which the Chinese company is trying to thrive even at an international level. The next top of the range of the company, therefore, could surprise us on the multimedia level.

Vivo's goals to improve images of their cameras have already emerged in some tier smartphones such as the X50 series and the recent X60 Pro Plus. Midranges, however, do not seem destined to be excluded from these perspectives. One example is the S7 with its top-notch dual selfie camera. With the opening of this center, Vivo wants to catch up with its main competitors such as OPPO and Huawei and the conditions, it seems, are all there.

Vivo's work on the photographic sector

Vivo's attentions to the photo gallery of their smartphones certainly does not date back to these days. In fact, already during 2020, the company declared its intention to challenge the competition with a new lens with important characteristics. The target? To be able to shoot (photos and videos) of excellent quality even in suboptimal lighting conditions (we know how this is a great enemy of smartphone photos).

Based on what Vivo said in August last year, the new sensor designed for its smartphones will be able to capture up to 160% more light compared to what all other sensors do. Once the goal is known and the center in which to achieve it is ready, all that remains is to wait for developments. The next smartphones of the Chinese company will be able to give us an answer. Will the challenge be won? We will find out. Stay connected to not miss the next updates.
